Studio Neshoma

Neshoma is a Yiddish word for the vital life force that lives in the body and is inseparable from it.

The name is a rejection. A rejection of the idea that body, mind, and spirit are separate. This cartesian philosophy has a cost; if the body is separate from the self- the body starts to look like something you have rather than something you are.

Shiatsu starts from a different premise: you are not a machine, and your body has never stopped trying to talk to you.

Shiatsu is reclamation work. When you soften your belly, when you feel your feet on the ground — you're not doing maintenance. You're re-establishing a relationship with yourself that was never supposed to be severed.
